History of Bostick Plantation
Bostick Plantation began around 200 years ago with a land grant from King George II for 74,000 acres. Our family is one of the fewer than 200 families that still hold titles to an original land grant title. The original house was burned on January 16, 1865, by Federal Troops under the Command of General Sherman. The family originally owned all 74,000 acres, but five generations of bequests have reduced the current holdings of acreage brothers Joe M. Bostick, III and Robert Batten Bostick currently own.
The last year Joe M. Bostick, Jr. farmed his 5,000 acre plantation, he lost $80,000 to wildlife. In the mid 1970s, he decided to break with the past and start a commercial hunting operation. Like many others of the past, he saw hunting as the salvation for old plantations. He used the property to run the commercial hunting operation and for cutting timber until 2015.
In 2019, the property was then handed down to Joe's sons, Joe and Robert. Joe and Robert have owned and operated Dr. Tire, Inc in Estill, SC since 1989. In an effort to keep the plantation property in the family and preserve the history of their heritage, they decided to turn the property into an elegant event venue. We want to allow others to experience the beauty of a historical plantation adorned with large oak trees covered in moss from the days that began our country's history. We can't wait to share our slice of southern charm with you for your special event.
